David Suchet Poirot TV Episodes

Below is the full list of TV episodes starring David Suchet as Hercule Poirot with each episode of each season listed. The first three seasons cover some of the short stories (as these had the wrights given for filming first) before some of the novels were filmed in season four. ‘Peril at End House’ was filmed in two parts – each an hour long episode’ where as the other novels were filmed as feature length episodes. Season five returns to some of the short stories before the rest of the series focusing on the Poirot mystery novels. The only exception to this is ‘The Labours of Hercules’ which is an amalgamation and development of five of the short stories from the collection of the same name, combined to create a feature length episode.  Most of the episodes for Poirot have stayed close to the original plot written by Agatha Christie (especially compared to the Marple TV episodes) so fans of the short stories and novels shouldn’t be disappointed. Minor changes have sometimes been made (Linda becomes a Lionel in Evil Under the Sun for example) and in some cases characters have been left out such as in Death on the Nile, but I suspect these were done in part to differentiate between the Peter Ustinov film productions and in any case, for me, these do not interfere with the key plot too much. My Personal favourites are some of the older adaptations of the novels such as Hickory Dickory Dock and Lord Edgware Dies. I’m such a fan of the Peter Ustinov film adaptations of Death on the Nile and Evil Under The Sun that I don’t watch the Suchet adaptations as much but they are still really well done. Indeed, for many who are not keen on Ustinov, they are their favourite ones anyway. When it comes to actors who have played Hercule Poirot, no one can deny that David Suchet is THE Hercule Poirot and the actor has played him to perfection in every single adaptation below.
